Over a hundred years ago...
The King of Thieves was captured in a failed attempt to kill the Hylian King and usurp the throne. As punishment, he was ordered to be executed by the Ancient Sage spirits, but as this order was carried out, through some divine jest, the evil Gerudo was gifted with the Goddesses’ power and revived.
Breaking free of his restraints, the dark lord drew the weapon of his demise from his chest, his vile laugh filling the air as he prepared to kill his executioners. However, this short moment of reprieve was the King’s downfall, as the Sages managed to open a portal to another world behind him. The void the portal created began to pull at him, slowly drawing him towards its depths, proving beyond even the Goddesses’ power to prevent.
The last act of the King of Evil before he disappeared from time was to launch the Sage’s Sword into the portal’s originator, piercing the very center of the Mirror of Twilight, but this proved to be worthless, as the damage was merely superficial, and the blade was quickly pulled into the void with its new owner…
The world has since lived in peace, battles and wars are small and short, fights becoming a mere training exercise of caution. People remain alert, prepared, but relaxed and comfortable.
Unfortunately, as with all things,
peace cannot last forever…
As you can tell, this is a Legend of Zelda Roleplay site, and I'm sure those of you who have good eyes can tell its based on the Twilight Princess game, but expanded and with a twist. We like to think of our site as a "Fantasy/Zelda RP", the knowledge of Zelda required is minimal~ You are able to claim canons from the game, as well as make original characters, get involved with the plot if you wish, and roleplay to your hearts content. ♥
It has been over one hundred years time since the civil wars of Caesar, Pompey, Antony, and Octavian destroyed the Roman Republic. Now, in the year 55 AD, the mighty Roman Empire stands in dominance over the Mediterranean World and most of Europe, it's borders reaching from the sands of Persia to the shores of Britannia. It is a time of peace in Rome--the Pax Romana--as the Caesars have brought great wealth to the world's largest city and created an unstoppable military force.
Now, however, that peace has been threatened. After fifteen years of ruling over a Roman golden age, Emperor Claudius Sabucius Augustus Caesar has been poisoned and is now on his deathbed, delirious and unable to make many coherent statements, but still alive. Without having appointed an heir, having only married a younger wife a short time ago, Rome is on the brink of civil war once more as various individuals step forward to lay claim to the Imperial Throne. The man who secretly poisoned the emperor, an ambitious aristocrat named Camillus Dexsius of the Julii, has begun courting followers to support his bid to become Caesar and reinstate the Julii family to the Imperial throne. Manius Leontius Sabucius, the nephew and pupil of the dying emperor, has also stepped forward with ambitions for the throne. Various generals and senators have expressed interest too, with some senators plotting this as the perfect time to overthrow the Empire and return to a Republic.
Meanwhile, as Rome is in turmoil, the provinces are beginning to act up too. Barbarian tribes to the north and client kings throughout the provinces see this as the perfect time to assert their authority and independence from Rome. This has led to disruptions in trade and travel as the outer reaches of the empire become unstable.
While the elite wait for the emperor to die, the people of Rome continue about their daily lives, many of them ignoring the political turmoil for now. Eventually, though, everyone from the lowest slave to the highest senator will need to choose a side in this battle over who will become Emperor of all Rome and thus the most powerful man in the world.
What will happen? Will the bloodthirsty Camillus succeed in his quest for the Imperial Throne, or will Manius be able to take power? Or will one of the powerful generals of the Roman Military or rhetorical geniuses of the Roman Senate manage to sneak in? Will the republicans manage to step forward and overthrow the empire altogether? Will rebellions in Greece, Egypt, and Judea be able to be kept down at the same time that barbarians in Gaul and Germania begun raiding into Roman territory? Who will rule Rome?
You decide. Senators, slave, generals, infantry, barbarians, citizens, merchants, travelers, and all of the Roman World have a part to play in Aeterna Roma.

For the good of the site, we have certain limits on some things. We want Gladiator to be as balanced and realistic as it can be. If you want any of these you must ask either Maximus or myself. These are:
Gladiators- if you would like one you must first have an active non-gladiator character. They can be a slave, just not a gladiator. You must create a new character for your gladiator, unless you already have a male slave that you'd like to make a gladiator. If that's the case, ask us. Female gladiators- sorry, girls. There is historical evidence for this, but nothing substantial, and so female gladiators are limited. For a female gladiator you must have two non-gladiator characters. If you have a female slave that you'd like to make a gladiator instead of creating a new one, then ask us.
There are also other things that you may want the opportunity to have. These are:
Slave Owners- currently there are only Proximo and Foll, as well as Commodus, as slave owners. If you would like to be one, either PM Maximus or myself, and we still decide. You must have at least one active character to ask for this position. If you would like to create a new character, great, but it's not necessary if you already have a character who is a Roman citizen.

His preferred weapon is the Roman Gladius, followed by the Pilum. He's taught himself to conceal fear and react decisively to harsh situations. He values honor, skill, and loyalty. Height: 5'10 Weight: 156 lbs Appearance: He has blond hair cropped short, now growing a stubble, though he was clean-shaven before. Though not exactly broad shouldered, he is muscular from years of service in the Roman Army. Favorite things: (I'm not really sure yet) Least favorite things: (I'm not really sure yet) History: Antoninus was once a Roman Centurion. He had been given the position as he was of noble birth - son of a well-known warrior. He gained the loyalty of his century when he proved himself to be a good commander. Then, in a twist of fate, his men were decimated in battle. He, along with the few survivors, began a hasty retreat. Arrows rained down on them. Antoninus was the only one who survived. The next day, slavers found him, lying with his dead men on the road with an arrow protruding from his back. As he was the only living man, they took him, intending to use him as food for their lions. However, after one of the other slaves removed the arrow, he began to mend. Now they decide he might make a good profit in the slave market.
